About: Investigational research drives medical breakthroughs and transforms science into life-saving treatments, but its unknown risk profiles require rigorous smart infusion pump processes to prevent administration errors and keep clinical trial patients safe.

This quarter, the NIC will be joined by Kristen Hughes, PharmD, BCPS, CPPS and Sam Bowker, PharmD, MHIIM from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as they share their approach to integrating investigational medications into smart pump drug libraries. They will explore workflows, drug library limit development, and key considerations for smart pump interoperability during clinical trials.

We will also review key network trends and highlights, and a summary of the 2026 NIC Survey findings on the biggest challenges being faced with smart infusion pumps today.
